BEFORE BIKES
Before taking bike pictures as a hobby, I was a pro photographer/videographer for a few years. But I didn't succeed in this field, so today I'm doing the second thing I know how to do best: repairing bikes.
I mainly used to create infinite loops, as animated gifs, created from video sequences that I filmed very precisely. Like videos, but with no beginning and no end. I started doing this as a hobby, then a lot of brands were interested in these images and asked me to create some for them. I had a second website to showcase my work, but I will kill it soon probably, since I don’t do this at all anymore. But I thought I’d share a few of these images here before they are gone.
If you're wondering, I stopped because I had been doing this on my own for almost 10 years, as a freelancer, but there was too much paperwork, and I’m not good at all with that, and I've never found anyone interested in creating a team, which would have helped reduce the paperwork (or at least helped understanding it better). I wanted to be behind a camera, shooting things, not sitting at a desk filling out forms... In fact, it worked quite well, with project opportunities presenting themselves to me faster than I could execute them, without me even having to go looking for them. But I gave up. When I now think about what I was doing before, and what I'm doing now, I feel it's a bit of a waste.
Here are a few series, in no particular order:
Personnal work (not created for any brand, only for my own pleasure).
Canal+Versailles TV series.
Those loops could be seen on social media, and displayed on screens in French train stations and Parisian metro.
Loops made for an anniversary watch.
Bouygues Telecom.
Loops shots during the filming on a TV ad for Bouygues Telecom, with a longboarders crew.
ASUS CHI.
This was a series of loops made for ASUS and their very silent laptop (I only have one image left, but there were many).
CIC bank.
A series of “funny” images created for the French bank network CIC.
eJust.
Images created for an online lawyer service.
GreyGoose vodka.
A cocktail based on vodka and coffee, to be enjoyed with a chocolate pastry.
Kenzo - Eau de Lumière.
This was a film made from multiple loops put together. It could either be viewed as independant loops, or a film, with a beginning and an end.
Mercure Hotels.
This was a chat bot created for Mercure hotels. Participants could play a game and receive answers in the form of looping images based on their performance.
Mette Henriette.
These images were shot during a musical performance by Mette Henriette Martedatter Rølvåg, a performing artist, saxophonist, band leader and composer from Norway, filmed on a remote island in Norway.
Petit Bateau.
Loops shot during the filming of a commercial for children's clothing brand Petit Bateau.
